Great Kitchen Products You Will Love

Posted on 24 Jul 2015 23:54

There are so many innovative kitchen and cooking products on the market!

"Innovative" kitchen products are nothing new, of course. Before we could get them on the web, we bought them over the phone after watching an info-mercial. After we received them, we used them once and then they ended up in a junk drawer or in a box in the garage. For years. Most innovative seeming kitchen gadgets suffer from the same problems. They do ONE thing, and they don't do it very well. The products I chose here are those that I think replace an existing solution but do it better. These are products you'll use them again and again. You'll love these products for their usefulness!

Art and Cook Soak and Strain Washer Bowl

The problem with washing fruits and vegetables in a colander is that you are only rinsing them. The best way to clean fruits and vegetables is to actually soak them (and agitate them). You can't do that in a colander or strainer without using another large bowl.

The Soak and Strain Washer bowl is the most convenient way to clean fruits and vegetables, by soaking them and easily draining them with one tool in instead of two. You'll be using it often! They come in several sizes: 5.3 qt., 3.5 qt., and 2.1 qt.with different colors of strainers to choose from.

3pc. Silicone Bowl Set by Norpro

This 3-Piece Silicone Bowl set from Norpro makes pouring a lot easier. The bowls are stable sturdy enough for mixing but flexible enough so that you can squeeze the bowl and and make it easy to pour. Obviously, this solution would only make sense for huge bowls, but they come in 1, 1.5, and 2 qt. sizes.

These silicone bowls are helpful for pouring cup cakes and pancakes, and also are a handy solution for pouring flour and other ingredients into a bowl while mixing in a stand mixer. They can be used in the microwave, and washed in the dishwasher.

Mircroplane Classic Zester and Grater

The Microplane fits my requirement for being a multi-purpose too because it not only replaced your zester, and makes it much easier, but also makes grating hard cheeses like Parmesan a breeze. I use my constantly and I imagine you will too!

The Classic Microplane model 40020, is all you need for zesting and grating hard cheese, but other models are available for different sorts of jobs. The ribbon grater works for chocolate, carrots, and softer cheeses. The extra-coarse grater works for potatoes, apples, and soft cheeses. They also make a spice grater for nutmeg and cinnamon. Although you might not want all of them, they all do a great job and make the job easier.

Before you go for one of the hundreds of choppers, with multiple parts to clean, and then end up cluttering up your cabinets along with all the other gadgets you never use, consider that you only need one high quality knife to last you a lifetime. Flexible Plastic Cutting Boards or Mats

There is nothing more annoying than having one or two cutting boards and using one for meat, only to need the other one for chopping up vegetables to find that it is dirty. There are many advantageous to flexible plastic cutting boards or mats. You can have several of them and they take up much less room. You can bend them to pick up and pour ingredients right into a bowl or a pot. They are dishwasher safe, and they come in different colors so that you can use one color for meat, the other for vegetables, etc. They are highly affordable so you can easily replace them when you need to.

Kitchen Shears

Yes, you need one good quality Chef's knife. No you don't need a bunch of fancy chopping devices. But, a pair of kitchen shears will actually perform a lot of the jobs a good knife will, and it works better for certain things. If you need to snip off a bit of an herb without having to get out a cutting board and a knife, use kitchen shears. And, cutting up bacon is much easier with shears. Need to trim dough: kitchen shears. Shears, in fact, will work perfectly for all kinds of quick cutting tasks, especially when you only need a little.
